Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Providing 1:1 support for children in a warm, safe, therapeutic environment
  • Collaborating closely with a Consultant Psychologist and Registered Manager
  • Making a tangible difference in the lives of children recovering from trauma
    This dedicated therapeutic residential home provides care for young children aged 5-12 on admittance to the home who have experienced severe trauma, including sexual abuse. This company is committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where these children can begin their healing journey. The team is supported by a consultant psychologist ensuring that each young person’s therapeutic needs are met with the highest standards of care.
    The children typically come from mental health hospitals or the homes of their abusers, making their first placement into residential care often a challenging and intense transition. The team however is well-equipped to manage the challenges of aggression, restraints, and other behavioural issues during the initial settling-in period.
    Currently the young people are settled and all in education. These young people love activities and spending time with the staff and at the hub in Newark where they can undertake activities including rock climbing, coffee mornings & summer camps.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide daily care and support: Attend to the physical, emotional, and social needs of children, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times​
  • Implement care plans: Follow and contribute to individualised care plans tailored to each child’s specific needs and circumstances
  • Promote education and development: Encourage and support children’s educational pursuits, including assisting with homework and liaising with educational institutions
  • Support daily routines: Assist children with daily activities such as waking up, personal hygiene, meals, and bedtime routines
  • Encourage life skills: Teach and support the development of essential life skills, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and social interactions
  • Maintain a safe environment: Ensure the living environment is clean, safe, and conducive to the children’s well-being
  • Participate in activities: Engage children in recreational and therapeutic activities, both within the home and in the community, to promote socialisation and personal growth
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress notes, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with professionals: Work closely with colleagues, social workers, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic care and support for each child
  • Safeguarding: Be vigilant in identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns, following child protection policies and procedures at all times
