REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree in Social Work or equivalent)
  • SWE (Social Work England) registration
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory frameworks
  • Ability to manage risk, make sound decisions, and deliver under pressure
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Responsibilities

ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker to join our Children’s Services team. This is a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and families, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and outcomes.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will carry a manageable caseload, provide mentoring to less experienced colleagues, and contribute to high-quality assessments, interventions, and planning. You will work collaboratively across services to achieve positive outcomes and long-term stability for children and young people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage complex child protection, children in need, and looked-after children cases.
  • Lead on statutory assessments, care planning, and multi-agency safeguarding interventions.
  • Provide professional supervision, guidance, and mentoring to junior staff and students.
  • Participate in team development and service improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and internal policies.
  • Champion the voice of the child in all aspects of planning and decision-making.
