A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE

Action for Children Early Intervention Family Support Service are looking for a Childrens Service Practitioner to join our team.
Our services work across Fermanagh and Omagh, supporting children and young people aged 0 to 17 and their families. As part of our mixed staff team of social workers and family support practitioners, you will play a crucial role in providing early intervention support to families who do not meet the threshold for statutory social service involvement, intervening early to address challenges and promote positive outcomes.
As a Children’s Service Practitioner, you will deliver home based parenting support to families facing a range of difficulties, including behavioural issues, anxiety, school avoidance, bullying, and parental separation. You will also provide one-to-one support to children, addressing similar themes and issues. Services are delivered on an outreach basis to communities and individuals in their family homes.
This role does include some evenings and weekends, providing support when most needed, the role involves working within the southern sector of the Western Trust in Northern Ireland covering the areas of Fermanagh and Omagh, which are largely rural. Due to this the role requires access to a car.
The ideal candidate will have a background in social care and experience in delivering direct, home-based therapeutic support to parents and young people. You should be prepared to address a variety of challenges, including those related to poverty and mental health, and possess the skills and empathy to provide effective tailored support to families in need.
