Description

How you’ll make a difference:
Our social workers make a real difference within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). Every day they work with families to help children and young people who have had a difficult start in life achieve their ambitions. They listen to young people and put them at the heart of everything they do. Working in partnership with families, they equip them with the skills they need to ensure young people live in happy, healthy and safe homes.
If you are looking for a non-visiting role to practice your social work in a fast-paced environment, this will be an ideal team for you. We have a strong culture of giving staff the time, freedom and support to explore new and better ways of doing things. We’re looking for individuals keen to use their creativity to deliver high quality, child-centred practices, which ensure the best outcomes for children and families.

What you will be doing:

  • You will be responsible for triaging referrals coming into the team regarding children and young people with welfare concerns.
  • In this non-case holding role, you will also be applying threshold for Universal Service, Early Help and Social Care in a rapid and timely manner.
  • Daily, you will be dealing with professionals and parents by telephone.
  • As part of this role, you will be mentoring and coaching social workers to pro-vide a good quality service to children and young people .
  • Regularly, you will be offering supervision to Access Advisors (non-qualified members of business support staff who take initial phone calls from members of the public and professionals) to support and develop their role.
  • It will be key for you to keep accurate and detailed information that can be used by other members of the team and departments within Children Services.

What we need from you:

  • We require you to be a qualified Social Worker with relevant registration to practice (SWE Social Work England).
  • You will have already successfully completed your ASYE (where qualifying since 2012) and have substantial post qualifying experience in a children’s services role.
  • Given the elements of this role you will be used to solving problems, be confident about making important decisions and are passionate about working with children, young people and families to meet their goals and aspirations.
  • You will be able demonstrate specialist knowledge of the relevant services, including latest service developments, legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
  • Ideally you will have experience of supervision or mentoring of social workers or support staff.

What you need to know

  • This role is for 29.6 hours working Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday.
  • Non-working day is Tuesday.
  • The salary will be pro rata according to hours worked.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
  • You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.
