Description

We are building a dedicated team to support a bright and joyful 11-year-old boy living in Carlisle with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He lives at home with his family, including four other siblings, and requires 1:1 support 24/7, including overnight care. Full Training Provided. This is more than a job, it’s a chance to make a genuine difference to his, and his family’s life, while becoming part of a close-knit, supportive environment.

About the Role; We are looking for female staff (due to the family setting) to joinhis team and support him with:

  • Tracheostomy care (inc. suctioning)
  • Enteral feeding and button care
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Manual handling
  • Personal care
  • Medication administration
  • Physiotherapy and attending medical appointments
  • Support with communication, community access, and holidays
  • Being part of family outings, hospital stays, and emergency situations where needed
  • Shifts are 12 hours, covering both days and waking nights, on a rolling rota.

About the young boy we support; he isfull of life and enjoys being out and about with his support team and family. He loves:

  • Listening to music and attending music shows
  • Reading stories
  • Trips to the cinema and library
  • Spending time with family and his siblings

THE IDEAL SUPPORT WORKER

  • We are looking for someone who is:
  • Fun, calm, caring, and patient
  • A natural communicator and team player
  • Good with children and able to engage through stories and music
  • Comfortable working alone and as part of a team
  • Respectful, professional, and motivated to provide consistent, person-centred care
  • A driver with access to a car
  • Previous experience in complex care or tracheostomy is ideal, but not essential as full training and clinical sign-offs will be provided for the right person.
