Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people, ensuring their safety, dignity, and emotional well-being at all times.
  • Support children and young people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours, using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Respond effectively in crisis situations, providing calm, consistent support and ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • Promote positive routines, structure, and stability to help young people develop life skills, independence, and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with care teams, contributing to care plans that are tailored to the individual needs of each child or young person.
  • Encourage and support access to education, health services, and community activities, advocating for the young person’s best interests.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and timely records in line with organisational and regulatory standards.
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with young people that promote emotional safety and growth.
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in line with care plans, risk assessments, and organisational training.
  • Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins or waking nights, depending on the needs of the placement.
  • Ensure the home or placement setting is safe, clean, and welcoming, contributing to a nurturing and secure environment.
  • Attend training, supervisions, and team meetings, actively engaging in continuous professional development.
