OVERVIEW

The Children’s Service Lead is responsible for the setup and day-to-day management of the domiciliary care service for children in Peterborough. This includes ensuring regulatory compliance, safeguarding children, recruiting specialist staff, and delivering high-quality, person-centred care tailored to children with disabilities and complex needs. The role works closely with schools, families, healthcare professionals, and commissioners to build a trusted, responsive service.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care – Children & Young People pathway (or working towards)
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years managing children’s care services or equivalent leadership in complex care
  • Knowledge: Children’s safeguarding, SEND framework, EHCPs, and complex care procedures
  • Skills: Staff management, child-centred planning, multi-agency collaboration, clinical oversight
  • Values: Compassionate, child-focused, safeguarding-driven, inclusive
  • IT Literacy: Experience using care software systems, Microsoft Office, digital recordkeeping
  • Desirable: Experience working with local SEND teams and education partners
    Core Tasks & Responsibilities Pre-Launch (June–August 2025)
    · Develop service Statement of Purpose tailored for children’s care
    · Appoint, onboard and train care staff with SEN and complex care experience
    · Register the service with CQC if needed and develop safeguarding policies
    · Coordinate training for staff on child safeguarding, autism, epilepsy, PEG feeding
    · Engage with local SEND teams, schools, and healthcare professionals
    · Prepare documentation systems and risk assessment tools for children
    · Launch community outreach and local marketing for referrals
