Description The ideal candidate is responsible for providing safe age-appropriate activities for children ages 4 weeks through 7 years. The person will be responsible for implementing procedures and policies related to the Child Watch Program, as well as ensuring a welcoming and friendly atmosphere where children feel safe and have fun. This person must possess strong communication skills to help build and foster relationships with all YMCA members, especially those families and children using Child Watch. This position requires skills in supervising children, risk management and working with others. This person must be a strong team player, enthusiastic about the YMCA and the Child Watch Program and understand the YMCA’s mission. Requirements Essential Functions: Responsible for the implementation of all policies and procedures related to the Child Watch area. Responsible for starting and ending the Child Watch program on time, as well as ensuring that the room is ready for programming. Responsible for ensuring that the room is organized and cleaned at the end of each shift. Ability to play with and interact with all children and become familiar with names, abilities and interests of families who use the area. Ability to create and/or implement age-appropriate activities that fully engage children. Ability to execute all emergency procedures in the event of an accident or incident, i.e. fire drill, building evacuation, medical. Ability to maintain professional behavior and dress while representing the YMCA as staff. YMCA Competencies (Leader): Mission and Community Oriented: Accepts and demonstrates YMCA values. Qualifications: Infant/Child First Aid/CPR Ability to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week Willingness to work one Saturday a month Willingness to work two “Parent’s Night Out” a year Willingness to support other Family Programs as needed/desired Physical Demands: Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities.
