Description
About the company: Our client is a fast-growing tech start-up founded in 2018 that is revolutionizing the way travelers stay connected to the internet abroad. With a diverse team of over 500 professionals globally, they are helping millions of travelers stay connected across more than 180 destinations worldwide. About the team: Our client is a global eSIM provider structured with functional teams that drives growth across all countries. The International Growth team sets and drives the strategy behind our client's expansion into new and current geographies, ensuring cross-functional alignment and local market success. About the Role: You will be responsible for leading the entire product development lifecycle for the Chinese market. This includes overseeing the technical readiness and comprehensive localization across our core platforms: Web, iOS, and Android. A primary responsibility will be the successful integration with key super-apps and the development of associated Mini Programs. Crucially, you will ensure that all product development meets the necessary technical compliance and regulatory standards for operation in China. You will develop a deep understanding of Chinese users and business needs. You will translate those insights into real product localization decisions, guiding Engineering, Global Product, and local vendors toward the right priorities and execution. This is a product strategy and hands-on role. You will work directly with Engineering, Global Product, and local vendors to implement China-specific infrastructure and tooling (analytics/tracking, integrations, performance constraints), coordinate local payment methods, and drive Mini Programs implementations and super-app distribution. You are not just defining strategy, you are driving implementation and ensuring delivery. China is a priority growth market, and this role offers a unique opportunity to build the China product from the ground up, high visibility, real leadership, and a steep learning curve that will accelerate your professional growth, while shaping a category-leading experience and helping establish our client as a market leader in one of the world’s most competitive digital ecosystems. Key Responsibilities: Local Tech Stack Readiness (China) Define and guide implementation of China-specific tech stack requirements (e.g., hosting approach, analytics/tracking, attribution, integrations, performance constraints). Partner with Engineering and local vendors to coordinate technical readiness plans, timelines, and delivery. Ensure data flows, measurement, and monitoring are reliable within China constraints (including troubleshooting and iteration post-launch). Identify delivery risks early, unblock execution, and escalate trade-offs impacting launch quality or timeline. Product Localization (Web + iOS + Android) Lead China product localization end-to-end across Web, iOS, and Android, translating deep user understanding into requirements that improve trust, usability, and conversion. Drive UX/UI and journey adaptations (language nuance, onboarding, checkout, post-purchase, support flows, trust signals) aligned with Chinese user behaviors and ecosystem expectations. Partner with Global Product and Design to prioritize China-specific requirements and ensure high-quality delivery with Engineering. Run lightweight discovery and iteration cycles using data, user insights, and experimentation to continuously optimize the localized experience. Define and track product performance KPIs for China (e.g., conversion, activation, retention, payment success), ensuring measurable business impact. Experiment. Local Payments Integration Lead integration and optimization of local payment methods (WeChat Pay, Alipay, UnionPay where relevant). Ensure a seamless, high-conversion checkout experience and strong payment success rates. Coordinate with Finance and Ops on payment operations (reconciliation, refunds, chargebacks/disputes where applicable) and ensure issues are resolved quickly. Mini Program & Super-App Integrations Own product requirements and delivery coordination for WeChat Mini Program development, ensuring parity with core journeys and conversion-quality UX. Enable integrations with super-apps and travel platforms, translating partner requirements into internal specs and delivery plans. Ensure integrations are measurable (tracking/attribution), scalable, and maintained with clear ownership and release processes. Ecosystem & Support Readiness Ensure product workflows and tooling support China customer service needs (handoffs, FAQs, refunds, troubleshooting flows) in partnership with Support. Align localized product journeys with support processes and quality standards to protect customer experience at scale. Monitor post-launch signals (CSAT, complaints, reviews, refund drivers) and drive improvements with Product/Support/Engineering. Must-Have: 6+ years of Product Management experience in B2C digital products, with hands-on ownership of China localization or market launch initiatives. Proven experience localizing and optimizing product experiences for Chinese users across Web + iOS + Android (UX/UI, language nuance, trust signals, onboarding, checkout, post-purchase and support flows). Strong working knowledge of China’s local tech stack and ecosystem constraints, including hosting considerations (e.g., ICP implications / Great Firewall constraints), codes, analytics/tracking and attribution tooling used in China, and common integration patterns. Demonstrated delivery experience building and scaling China-specific capabilities end-to-end, including: WeChat Mini Program launch or scaling from scratch; Local payment integration and checkout performance optimization; super-app / travel platform integrations. Strong data and KPI fluency to define success metrics and drive iteration (conversion, activation, retention, payment success rate, attribution accuracy, funnel drop-offs). Technical fluency to work effectively with Engineering and vendors on APIs, data flows, integrations, and performance trade-offs; able to translate partner/market requirements into clear product specs. Experience operating in a global, cross-border environment, aligning China-specific needs with global product and engineering teams and driving delivery through collaboration. Agile leadership skills, with the ability to operate autonomously and lead cross-functional delivery teams. Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, Ops, and Support teams. Fluent Mandarin and English. Nice-to-Haves: Background in travel, telecom, fintech, cross-border e-commerce, or consumer apps in China. Experience working with local vendors or development agencies in China. Technical background or prior experience in Engineering.
