Read more about our Statement of Faith and Our Christian Mission. What is the opportunity? Water Mission is seeking a passionate, mission-driven leader to serve as the Church Outreach Manager. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading a national strategy to engage U.S.-based churches in the mission of ending the global water crisis. A central focus of this role is the cultivation, relationship management, and deepening of long-term, strategic relationships with churches that currently support or have the potential to support Water Mission. The Manager will serve as a trusted advisor and primary relationship manager for church partners—nurturing connections with pastors, mission leaders, and congregations to strengthen their engagement, increase their impact, and inspire ongoing investment in Water Mission’s work. The Manager will collaborate cross-departmentally to co-create meaningful opportunities for churches to engage spiritually, financially, and missionally. This role is essential in linking U.S. churches with global ministry efforts and growing a national movement of faith-aligned churches who are fully invested in ending the global water crisis. The Church Outreach Manager reports to Sr. Director of Development Operations and Strategic Initiatives. This full-time exempt position may be located remotely in the US or at Water Mission’s headquarters in North Charleston, SC. A successful Church Outreach Manager will: Spiritual Leadership and Culture Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to staff, partners, and communities. Participate in and lead prayer and biblically based devotions with staff. Pray regularly for church partners, volunteers, colleagues, and those we serve. Church Engagement Strategy Work alongside the Sr. Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives to develop and implement a multi-year national church engagement strategy in collaboration with Marketing and Acquisition, Communications, Global Partnerships, Investor Partnerships, and the Living Water team. Align U.S. church engagement strategy with US community walk strategies in an effort to expand the organization's donor base and advance our mission. Align U.S. church engagement strategy with global ministry goals and the Living Water Program. Cultivate and steward relationships with church leaders, mission committees, and denominational networks. Represent Water Mission at church events, mission fairs, Water Sunday services, and speaking engagements. Partnership Development and Stewardship Connect churches’ mission priorities with Water Mission’s goals through tailored partnership opportunities. Facilitate vision trips and immersive experiences to foster deeper church engagement and global awareness. Provide ongoing stewardship, impact reports, and communications to highlight the tangible outcomes of church support. Encourage and equip church members to serve as ambassadors for the water crisis using their time, talents, and influence. Leverage church partnerships to identify and engage prospective corporate and individual donors, initiating their entry into the donor journey. Communication and Representation Serve as a compelling spokesperson for Water Mission, articulating the mission, vision, and solutions to diverse church audiences. Maintain a high level of knowledge of Water Mission’s programmatic strategies and stay informed on relevant local, national, and global issues. Volunteer Engagement and Team Building Equip, support, and mobilize volunteers who introduce and represent Water Mission within their local churches and communities. Play a key role in developing and executing strategies to recruit, train, and deploy regional volunteer teams that can effectively grow and steward church relationships at a localized level. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Communications to develop materials that inspire and educate churches on Water Mission’s work and Living Water program. Contribute spiritual impact stories to the Marketing team for use in publications and social media. Maintain accurate records of church engagement using Raiser’s Edge (or future CRM platform). Monitor, report, and evaluate success metrics for church engagement efforts. Other duties as assigned What is required? Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and Core Values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity. Consistently present a professional image and effectively communicate the mission and purpose of Water Mission. Bachelor’s degree required; theological degree is preferred. Passion and calling to come alongside churches to grow their involvement in solving the global water crisis. Five to seven years of experience as a church leader, pastor, or a ministry role engaged in church relations. Experience developing strong relationships and partnerships with large churches. Demonstrated track record of revenue generation within Christian churches and communities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and provide constructive feedback. Experience in effective public speaking. Thrives under pressure and has a proven track record of meeting deadlines. Ability to work in a highly fluid environment and ability to respond to changing requests. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups of people. Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities is required. Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally 60 to 80 nights a year. (30%) Flexibility to work periodic nights and weekends as required. Must travel to the North Charleston headquarters at a minimum of two times each year. Ability to sit at a desk in front of a computer screen for long durations.
