GENERAL SUMMARY:

This is a full time position under the direct supervision of the Program Director of Assessment and Outpatient Therapy. The general responsibilities of the position are to work directly with Police Department riding as a co-responder with CIT Officers to provide crisis intervention, immediate engagement, care coordination follow-up and support to those persons coming in contact with these police department and are in need of immediate intervention. Varied levels of service will be provided to those clients coming in contact with the police who are exhibiting mental health and/or substance use issues at time of contact with the purpose of more immediate help and scene response.

Responsibilities

CLINICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide mobile crisis intervention as a co-responder with the CIT Officer(s) for Police Departments assisting with mental health and/or substance use calls.
  2. Provide immediate engagement and assessment of situation from a mental health and/or substance use issue at the scene.
  3. Provide lethality assessment as needed and necessary as part of crisis intervention.
  4. Determining course of action at time of contact and linkage to appropriate resources and follow-up.
  5. Collaborate with Officers in a day to day capacity and in terms of what is assessed and determined as necessary steps from a clinical standpoint.
  6. Collect and maintain statistical data on the number of clients (citizens) contacted and served through this program and provide monthly, quarterly, semi or annual statistics to Montgomery ADAMHS Board and police agencies while adhering to and complying with HIPAA and privacy standards.
  7. Collaborate with hospital systems, jail services and other systems that are involved with clients.
  8. Provide follow up and linkage to the appropriate mental health/substance use services for those clients to assure continuity of care.
