QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in human services or equivalent combination of academic, professional and/or lived experience.
  • Experience in navigating multi-jurisdictional public systems.
  • Experience in community or public services.
  • Ability to communicate in Indigenous languages is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Case management experience is considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Familiar with the principles of person-centered and trauma-informed care.
  • Extensive knowledge of available community resources.
  • Effective in-person and digital communication skills.
  • Knowledge of intergenerational trauma and/or working with Indigenous people, families and/or communities. Specifically, the unique challenges and experiences of Métis citizens.
  • Understanding of the factors which contribute to housing instabilities, mental health challenges, and addictions.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of inter-governmental system barriers related to accessing housing, health care, food security, mental health care, child and family services, social services, transportation, etc.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full Microsoft Office 365 suite and Adobe tools.
  • Ability to travel

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access reliable transportation.
  • Must undergo a Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector
  • Must be willing to travel 1-3 times per month within the province.
  • Applicants must be able to work in a secure location maintaining client confidentiality.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Métis citizens in addressing the challenges of navigating multijurisdictional human systems. This includes but not limited to housing, addictions services, social services, child and family services, transportation, personal identification, mental and physical health supports, cultural supports, family supports, food security, winter clothing, systematic barriers, etc.
  • As a Ma Faamii team member, develop a comprehensive provincial inventory of support services available to address client’s needs.
  • Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with community agencies and other community service providers.
  • Assist Métis citizens who have previously accessed services (Justice, Health, Foster Care, etc.) through navigation supports so they can return safely to their home community.
  • Facilitate individual and group life skills development training.
  • As a Ma Faamii team member, contribute to the creation and continued improvement of data collection processes.
  • Need for travel engagements.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
