Job Title: Citrus Field and Grower Relations Representative
Reports To: CA Citrus Commodity Manager
Work Schedule: Generally, M-F 8am – 5pm, evenings and weekends as needed.
Position Type: On-Site Full-Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: $80-100K (DOE)
Position Summary: The Citrus Field and Grower Relations Representative will have knowledge of the citrus industry, adept at cultivating and managing grower relationships and an understanding of citrus production forecasting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Commodity manager to establish supply for various programs.
  • Recruit and maintain relationships with new and existing growers.
  • Evaluate fruit quality and forecast potential yields accurately.
  • Communicate news promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct field evaluations by driving through ranches to assess fruit and fields.
  • Coordinate with labor contractors and harvest crews as needed.
  • Collaborate as needed with other citrus field team members, Grower Accounting and all Dayka & Hackett staff including, but not limited to, all sister entities.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-7 years of experience in the fruit industry, with a strong understanding of fruit sourcing, quality control, and market dynamics.
  • Experience working with both domestic and international suppliers and buyers.
  • Knowledge of seasonality and perishability of different types of fruits.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Preferably in Business Administration, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Additional Certifications: Courses or certifications in food safety, quality control, and import/export regulations can be advantageous.

VISUAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Visual Acuity: Good visual acuity to inspect fruit quality and detect any defects or issues.
  • Sensory Evaluation: Ability to use sensory skills such as taste and smell to assess fruit quality.

COMMUNICATION:

  • Clear Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and via email, which is essential for coordinating with suppliers, clients, and team members.
