Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Devonport City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated City Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. This leadership role is pivotal in delivering innovative and effective engineering solutions to support Council’s objectives and the community’s needs.
As the City Engineer, you will provide engineering advice, oversee project delivery, and support the Engineering, Infrastructure Design, Assets & Technical Services teams in achieving operational excellence.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring Council meets its statutory obligations while fostering a culture of customer-focused service and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver expert engineering assessments and oversee development applications to meet technical and legislative requirements.
  • Provide stormwater and road network modelling to industry standards which guide city development design and capital program improvements.
  • Develop and implement infrastructure strategies, asset management plans, and policies.
  • Manage and monitor capital works programs for Roads and Stormwater assets.
  • Lead and support the Engineering team, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Oversee operational and capital budgets to achieve Council’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide high-level advice to internal and external stakeholders while maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and Council policies.
