Our Opportunity As part of our continued growth in Australia, HDR is currently seeking a Civil Designer at intermediate to senior level to contribute to the technical delivery on a diverse range of challenging infrastructure projects. Based in Brisbane, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to produce accurate, efficient, and buildable design outcomes. The role also provides opportunities to contribute to HDR’s digital engineering and BIM initiatives, supporting innovation in design processes and tools across the Brisbane practice. Responsibilities Prepare civil design and documentation for road and transport infrastructure projects using tools such as 12D and AutoCAD. Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project managers to deliver coordinated and efficient design outcomes. Develop design solutions from concept through to detailed design and construction documentation. Provide guidance and support to other designers and technicians, as appropriate. Contribute to the development and implementation of digital engineering and technology initiatives within HDR’s Brisbane Engineering Practice. Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing use of BIM systems aligned with HDR’s global processes and local market requirements. Support innovation and continuous improvement in Design/CAD workflows, tools, and standards. Assist with the integration of design outputs across platforms and systems to support project delivery. Maintain a high level of quality, accuracy, and consistency across all design outputs. Contribute to safety and quality leadership aligned with HDR’s “Drive to Zero” initiative. Support HDR’s inclusive, collaborative culture and represent the business at technical forums where appropriate. About You Minimum 5 years’ experience in the planning, design, and documentation of highways and civil infrastructure projects. Experience delivering projects in accordance with relevant Australian and Queensland design standards (DTMR experience highly regarded). Strong capability in 12D and AutoCAD, with experience using 12D Synergy. Experience with software such as ProjectWise and Navisworks is advantageous. Competent in Microsoft Office and other relevant project software. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines and work effectively under pressure. Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work within multidisciplinary and culturally diverse teams.
