CIVIL ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

Location: Thanet Area
️ Job Type: Temp to Perm

Salary: £14.87 per hour

  • Hours: 37 hours per week on a 3-week rota, between 6:30 AM - 10:00 PM

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Civil Enforcement Officer to join our team at the local Council. The Civil Enforcement team plays a pivotal role in helping the District Council fulfil the requirements of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you will take on a unique and innovative role by conducting street patrols across designated areas within the district.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic knowledge of the Highway Code, Road Traffic Regulations Act 1991, Traffic Management Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong understanding of the Thanet area.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid, clean driving license.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • ️ Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • ️ Physically fit.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce parking restrictions in accordance with the Traffic Management Act 2004 and Traffic Regulation Orders for Thanet.
  • ️ Issue Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked illegally.
  • Collect sufficient evidence when issuing Penalty Charge Notices.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks of pay and display machines and report any issues
  • ️ Perform weekly car park inspections.
  • Identify and report damaged road and car park signs, faded lines, or missing signage that requires replacement.
  • Assist the public with council-related inquiries to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Collaborate with other enforcement teams, CCTV, and local police to share intelligence.
  • Investigate reports of abandoned vehicles, overseeing the process from initial report to removal.
  • Participate in joint operations with CCTV and Streetscene Enforcement.
