• Receive, analyse and verify the consistency of the input data
• Produce design deliverables (assumption notes, technical specifications and calculation notes, etc)Perform design and analysis tasks as necessary
• Review and/or develop nuclear safety case inputs, such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Basis of Design, Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs) and Design Substantiation Reports (DSR)
• Review and justify design decisions to the Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR)
• Technical verifications of civil engineering documents
• Create and maintain CDM Designers Risk Registers and associated CDM deliverables
• Work with international SMR developers to pass through the Office of Nuclear Regulation’s Generic Design Assessment process
• Degree educated in civil and/or structural engineering, working towards chartership with ICE or IStructE
• Design office experience with experience of design of reinforced concrete and design of steel structures
• Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs
• Design experience in nuclear context (or similar highly regulated context)
• Knowledge and understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering, an understanding of American codes of practice
• Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment
• Self-starter with a professional approach and a technical background
• Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders
