FROM WATER TO WIRE – BE PART OF THE MOVEMENT!

To support the growing market demand for our products and services, we are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to support civil and structural work on various hydroelectric projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in addressing site-related civil/structural issues, ensuring the proper selection of products, methods and procedures for concrete repair, new concrete placement, and grouting activities. Additionally, they will provide support to the Structural team lead for the design of both permanent and temporary concrete and steel structures. This role will involve conducting occasional site visits across Canada to perform diverse tasks, such as concrete inspections, assess structural conditions, certify installation and prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations for necessary repairs.

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

  • Participate in the various stages of a hydroelectric project (feasibility, preliminary design, detailed engineering, etc.) for new power plants or refurbishments of existing plants;
  • Review and assimilate contractual technical specifications;
  • Produce design notes for the steel and concrete structures under his/her responsibility, ensuring compliance with relevant Canadian codes and standards, including but not limited to the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), Canadian Standards Association (CSA) S16 for steel structures, and CSA A23.3 for concrete structures;
  • Develop comprehensive technical specifications to ensure the proper selection of products, methods, and procedures for concrete repair, new concrete placement, and grouting activities;
  • Perform occasional concrete inspections, assess structural conditions, and prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations for necessary repairs;
  • Coordinate his/her deliverables with other relevant disciplines and project teams;
  • Support the team of drafting technicians with 3D modeling and detail drawing of the design work under their responsibility;
  • Participate in the preparation of installation procedures;
  • Review and stamp the technical documentation produced under his/her supervision;
  • Review and analyze installation report to ensure equipment compliance;
  • Participate in the planning of engineering activities related to projects on which he/she is assigned;
  • Assist the estimating department in putting together proposals by preparing preliminary design and sketches and identifying strategic assumptions.
