Role description: Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our team in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational and team building skills, who feels comfortable with a dynamic workflow. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects. This opportunity is to support our growing emerging contaminant project portfolio and remediation capabilities. Role accountabilities: Our services encompass a range of responsibilities aimed at engineering design and optimization support for treatment systems. You will specialize in providing program support for a diverse portfolio of projects underway, catering to both industrial clients and the US Federal Government. You will actively participate in field investigations, sampling activities, pilot programs, and full-scale remedial efforts. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in fostering effective communication by engaging in face-to-face meetings with clients, technical teams, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities could include a combination of field and office related tasks and will include periodic travel. These responsibilities may include: Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) with planning and performing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Civil/Environmental engineering design including land development planning, pipelines, storm water systems, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, and earthwork site design Assist with developing permit/construction-level drawings and details, preparing technical specifications, and construction cost evaluation/estimating Prepare subcontracts and oversee the work of subcontractors. Perform fieldwork with a focus on health and safety and which may include soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, geotechnical investigations, and construction oversight. Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts. The successful candidate will be involved in interpreting and evaluating field and analytical data in order to prepare engineering designs, permit applications, and construction-related documents. Environmental remediation design tasks, including site assessments and soil remediation design, are also a part of this exciting role. This position will require travel and field work. Field work will require regional business travel. A few times per year, travel will be required within the U.S. for one to four weeks at a time. Estimated travel is up to 25% during the first two years, with travel reduced with career growth. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
