Description

ARE YOU NEARING COMPLETION OF A BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (CIVIL) DEGREE?

Through starting your career in Local Government you will have the opportunity to develop specialist technical skills within a supportive team.
The cadetship is a structured training and development program for students who have satisfactorily completed at least four semesters of their Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree and are currently completing their third year of study. To be eligible for this role students need to have completed at least 96 credit points in a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).
This cadetship role includes undertaking part time study and practical work experience in the work areas of Engineering, Asset Strategy and at our Oak Flats Works & Services Depot.
As a Civil Engineer Cadet you will gain and develop new practical skills and experience in a wide range of engineering functions in one of the most rapidly developing cities in NSW. This includes working and contributing to the design and construction of local projects including roads, traffic, subdivision control, flood management, waste services, civil works, engineering forward planning and projects and contracts.
Council’s Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to grow Council’s skilled workforce capacity by creating job opportunities and a talent pipeline for specialised roles and to develop future leaders by providing employment opportunity and professional development experiences that support and complement a related course of external tertiary study. Council’s cadets, apprentices or trainees receive ongoing training, guidance and support from workplace mentors while completing a nationally recognised qualification.
