ABOUT US (THE ORIGIN STORY)

Our mission? Build Cool Shit. Not lukewarm shit. Not “meh” shit. Cool shit. We’re like the Avengers of engineering, except instead of saving the world from aliens, we save it from poorly designed drainage systems and structures that weren’t built to code.
We’re CVL Engineers Inc., proudly headquartered in Edmonton where the mosquitoes are fierce, the winters test your will to live, and the infrastructure projects are absolutely legendary. We do civil, and structural work because someone has to keep society from literally falling apart (and that someone might as well get paid well for it).

• Design stormwater systems that work better than a broken umbrella
• Create servicing designs that won’t make future engineers question your sanity
• Master site grading because apparently water still insists on flowing downhill
• Design erosion and sediment control plans (because Mother Nature is truly unforgiving)
• Battle Civil 3D into submission (we provide hazard pay for software rage)
• Help refine drawings that contractors can interpret without a decoder ring
• Write construction specs that are clearer than your high school relationship status
• Craft technical reports that won’t induce narcolepsy
• Produce calculation packages that would make your professors weep with tears of pride
• Conduct site inspections and document everything like your prepping for the CRA to come calling
• Get gloriously dirty and collect stories that make great dinner party conversation
• Communicate with clients without using too much engineer-speak
• Explain why their “simple” request requires rewriting the laws of physics
• Work closely with the team that communicates primarily through engineering jokes, excessive whiteboard sketching, and the occasional interpretive CAD drawing
• Mystery tasks - other duties as assigned (this is where the plot thickens)
