Position: Civil Engineer

Salary: $90,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year + superannuationKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Technical Coordination

  • Assist in the resolution of structural design queries and monitor outstanding RFIs.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, sequencing, and buildability with a focus on temporary works, reinforcement detailing, and load-bearing systems.
  • Ensure latest revisions of structural drawings are issued to relevant parties and maintained in the drawing register.
  • Identify design risks and opportunities within structural packages.

Programme & Construction Support

  • Monitor and report progress of structural activities against programme milestones.
  • Support site team with coordination of concrete pours, steel erection, and reinforcement installation.
  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure accurate set-out and compliance with tolerances.
  • Track lead times and delivery schedules for key structural materials (e.g. reo, formwork systems, post-tensioned components).
  • Participate in daily site coordination meetings and contribute to planning look-aheads.

Procurement & Subcontractor Interface

  • Assist in preparation of scope of works and subcontract packages for structural trades.
  • Support the procurement process by coordinating documentation, responses to tender queries, and assessments.
  • Liaise with structural subcontractors to ensure compliance with contract scope, safety, quality, and programme requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and escalate risks or delays to the Project Manager.

Safety, Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Support the overall safety performance of the project team and subcontractors in accordance with DCOH HSEQ systems and WHS legislation.
  • Ensure project works align with DCOH’s Quality Management Plans, consultant requirements, and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Assist in implementing inspection and test plans (ITPs) for structural elements.
  • Monitor and document compliance of structural works with Australian Standards,
  • NCC/BCA, engineering specifications, and authority approvals.
  • Coordinate quality checks with engineers and consultants, including pre-pour inspections and concrete test results.
  • Ensure structural as-built information and records are collected progressively.

Project Administration & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of RFIs, drawing transmittals, variation registers, and meeting minutes related to structure.
  • Prepare documentation for internal reporting, progress claims, and authority compliance as required.
  • Assist the team with document control systems to ensure traceability of structural documentation.
  • Ensure all project documentation is properly filed and distributed in accordance with company procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support communication between site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and project management relating to structural coordination.
  • Attend consultant coordination meetings and prepare summaries or actions for follow-up.
  • Assist in liaising with relevant authorities or third parties on structural compliance matters.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional development.
  • Represent DCOH in a professional and ethical manner adhering to the DCOH Code of Conduct.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in project coordination or site engineering, with a focus on building structure.
  • Solid understanding of structural systems (concrete, steel, reinforcement, formwork).
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting structural drawings and engineering documents.
  • Familiar with Australian Standards, NCC/BCA, and authority processes for structural works.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office, project management software, and document control systems (e.g., Aconex, TeamBinder).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, site-based environment and manage multiple priorities.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
