DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 to 6 years civil engineering experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree (Hons) and working towards Chartered status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
  • Customer-focused with growing client relationship management skills
  • A current driver’s licence is desirable.

Reporting to a Team Leader, the ideal candidate, pending experience, will display the following key traits and skills:-

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of civil engineering including the design of drainage, levels, roads, watermains and earthworks
  • A good understanding of design principles set out in national / local authority standards and technical guidance documents such as GDSDS, IW CoP, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual, DMRB, and TII Publications etc
  • Experience in the design and specification of civil engineering materials
  • Ability to interrogate baseline information and prepare innovative, cost effective design solutions for public and private clients using the latest design suites and software applications
  • Multi-disciplinary design co-ordination experience and be able to present design solutions effectively & holistically internally and within a wider project team
  • Performing site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, quality, answer contractor queries and adherence to specifications
  • Ability to mentor junior staff in developing their own technical expertise.
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Familiarity with the preparation of contract documents for Public Works Contracts and participation in the administration of contracts
  • Developing an awareness of project and commercial management requirements on large infrastructure project
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLES:

Due to an expanding portfolio of projects nationally, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer in our Civils / Infrastructure Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing services ranging from feasibility studies to detailed designs through to construction and completion of large national infrastructure projects. The candidate can expect to work on a wide variety of projects in both the public and private sectors. Mentoring by assigned members of our Leadership Team will be provided as part of either our Graduate Training Programme or direct mentorship post Chartership. Rapid career progression within an expanding team is possible for successful candidates.
