QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. or B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Certification: P.Eng. designation in at least one Canadian province (preferably Alberta or Ontario).
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years in Canadian consulting engineering.
  • Technical Skills:
    o Expertise in hydrotechnical engineering and hydraulic structures.
    o Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint), with advanced Excel skills being an asset.

o Experience in hydrological modeling, sediment transport, and hydraulic analysis.

  • Soft Skills:

o Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

o Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.

  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $140,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

As an Hydrotechnical Engineer, your expertise will contribute to delivering high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions for our clients.

  • Conduct hydrological assessments, including low-flow analysis and flood flow statistical analysis.
  • Utilize industry-standard hydrotechnical modeling software to develop accurate analysis and summaries.
  • Perform hydraulic design for river engineering projects, including weirs, intakes, and dams.
  • Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions to support permitting processes.
  • Conduct energy and economic evaluations for hydropower plants.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, project requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on hydropower projects ranging from $10M to $400M.
  • Support continuous professional development and maintain a high level of discipline knowledge.
  • Work safely and report all health and safety concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
