Laboratory Technician

IG has an immediate opening for a full time Laboratory Technician for our North Charleston, SC office, to provide a variety of materials testing services and coordinating with staff and clients for field visits. The position is best suited for someone interested working in a fast-paced consultant environment, capable of effectively working as part of a collaborative design team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • An attitude of professionalism and willingness to interact with Project Managers and field technicians
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain American Concrete Institute (ACI) certifications in the fields of aggregate, concrete, and masonry
  • Math skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to regularly work for a few hours on most weekends

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of an experienced team, you will apply your testing capabilities to a variety of projects. Applicants shall be detailed oriented, organized, proficient in basic mathematics, and have strong communication skills. Report writing and computer skills are a plus. Experience working in a laboratory setting or within the construction inspection field is a plus. Entry level applicants encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Laboratory testing of construction related materials including concrete, aggregate, masonry, and soil in compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and SCDOT standards
    *Daily use of Metafield and other management & reporting software systems
    *Calibration, cleaning, maintenance, and inventory keeping of field and laboratory equipment
    *Assisting laboratory staff in maintaining laboratory accreditations by documenting equipment maintenance procedures and participating in external and internal audits
