CIVIL PROJECT ENGINEER
Rapidly growing rural engineering consulting firm seeks full time Civil Engineer with B.S. in Civil Engineering.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Successful applicant will be working under the direct supervision of senior level project engineers. Will be initially responsible for the design of municipal sewer and water utilities plus street designs, stormwater designs, subdivision designs and commercial development designs. Successful applicant will have experience in many diverse areas of civil engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a BS in Civil Engineering and an Engineering-In-Training certification along with at least 3 years of work experience to be considered. The applicant should have exceptional communication skills, ability to write engineering technical documents, exhibit attention to detail and be capable of managing multiple projects. Applicant should also be familiar with AutoCAD and Microsoft office products.

ACCOUNTABILITY
The Project Engineer is expected to operate independently using the staff and resources available to them to provide a high quality of service to the client. The Project Engineer is directly accountable to the Owners of the company and is required to maintain strong client relationships, meet profitability goals and ensure the project team is providing a high level of service to the client.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain strong relationships with not only clients but also government regulatory and funding personnel.
Have the ability to attend and interact during client meetings including city board or council meetings.
Have the ability to market and conduct marketing meetings on behalf of the company.
Preliminary Engineering – Preparation of preliminary engineering reports for proposed projects that include full cost estimates. Present those reports to clients, regulatory agencies and/or funding agencies such as the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, USDA Rural Development and Community Development Block Grant. Respond to any comments or concerns politely, proficiently and quickly.
· Design Engineering – Preparation of civil construction documents that uphold our design philosophies. Provide client not only what is necessary from a permitting standpoint; but also, with a set of documents which will allow the successful bidder to construct the project efficiently and with minimal changes in scope of work. Following is a brief list of key factors related to design:
Permitting and Entitlements – The Project Engineer is expected to work closely with clients when pursuing federal, state or local municipal approvals. The Project Engineer will be expected to represent the firm and the client through multiple entitlement processes. Those processes include but are not limited to:
Construction Administration – The Project Engineer is expected to work closely with clients during the construction phase of projects. The project engineer should have a detailed understanding of the field conditions and challenges faced by the Contractor. Should be able to convey specific design elements and overall project intent to the Contractor throughout construction. Should also be able to coordinate approval of final construction by all authorities. Most importantly, the Project Engineer should be able to professionally worth through and diffuse disputes that may arise during construction, while keeping in mind the client’s best interests.
