HRYCAY Consulting Engineers Inc. (HCEI), is seeking a full-time Junior Civil Engineer to work out of our Windsor office. The successful candidate will be involved in municipal projects and will possess a strong background working with municipalities through a motivated and dynamic team of professionals.
HCEI is a premier multi-disciplined engineering firm providing complete civil and municipal engineering and transportation services to both private and public sectors for over 25 years.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have completed post-secondary education in the field of Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 0-4 years’ of civil engineering work experience
  • Eligible candidate interested in obtaining a P.Eng. designation or possess EIT status
  • Strong oral and written English language skills
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD
  • Able to work in hot and cold conditions
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and travel through uneven or undeveloped terrain
  • Able to work individually or as part of a team
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Eligible to work in Canada and currently residing in Canada
  • Willing to relocate within 40 minutes of Windsor, ON

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with preparation and review of tender documents, project cost estimates, proposal documents, construction contract documents, and contract administration.
  • Experience with required project documentation with respect to civil/structural design and construction including all completion packages and as-built requirements.
  • Experience with construction inspection activities, construction project management and construction best practices.
  • Proficiency with topographic surveying and field data collection.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of current standards and guidelines for the purpose of reviewing internal and external designs for code compliance, best design practices, and design constructability.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards including OH&S regulations, MOECP regulations and CSA.
    Successful applicants will participate in the provision of engineering services from the proposal stage through to planning, design, construction and commissioning of projects such as road design, topographic surveying, watermain design, storm and sanitary sewer collection, and bridge design. Responsibilities
  • Working with team of discipline engineers, designers and drafters from conceptual design through preliminary, final design, engineering and construction.
  • Member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement the related design activities.
  • Acting as a technical resource within the project team, including preparing design drawings and design reports.
  • Designing new and replacement infrastructure through the use of municipal development manuals and provincial standards such as roads, watermains, sewers, culverts and bridges.
  • Completing quantity take off and estimates for projects.
  • Completing contract documents for project tender and construction.
  • Attending construction sites for the purpose of regular site inspection, data collection, and coordination with Contractors and sub-consultants, keeping project managers and build department leads up-to-date on project progression.
  • Acting as a liaison between clients and their contractors on site.
  • Completing as-built drawings for clients.
