Job Description
AECOM Technical Services, Inc., is seeking a Civil Engineering II in Oakland, CA.

Position requires experience in the following:

  • Construction means and methods including specialty infrastructure projects in rail transit, transit infrastructure and aviation.
  • Reviewing detailed cost proposals and perform estimates for change order work on rail transit, transit stations and aviation projects.
  • Tracking project progress and update design documents by using various software including Primavera P6, MS Project, MS Excel, Bluebeam, Procore, Oracle CM 13, PlanGrid, MS Office, Adobe and AutoCAD.
  • Performing tests and review test results for rail transit and aviation projects for startup, safety and security certification.
  • Measuring progress of complex work, contract deliverables on rail transit and aviation projects in order to review and approve payment requests
Responsibilities
  • Performs construction engineering and contract administration tasks for rail transit, transit stations, and aviation projects.
  • Manage/Lead the team of inspectors to ensure project delivery.
  • Collaborate with contractor and designer to resolve engineering problems.
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced manager.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Develop structural technical specifications, plans, elevations, section, and details. Review and prepare all project change order packages for client approval.
  • Perform contract administration and construction engineering support tasks for rail transit, transit stations, and aviation projects.
  • Lead review of Contractor’s invoices for payment and prepare pay application package for client’s approval. Performs change order cost negotiations with the contractor.
  • Reviewing bid item quantities for change order and base contract work.
  • Quality assurance inspection of the work performed by the contractor.
  • Initiate non-conformance work and close out punch list items work upon completion.
  • Review engineering test results from the contractor.
  • Work with contractor’s counterpart on any contractual issues, raise concerns and recommended actions to project management team.
  • Perform contract administration and construction engineering support tasks for rail transit, transit stations, and aviation projects.
  • Various tasks as required for delivery of projects through inspection, testing, startup and turnover to operations and maintenance.

    Qualifications
    Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a civil engineering- related occupation.
