These roles support division operations through technical engineering and administrative duties related to development review for stormwater and roadway/engineering plans and reports, inspections, and project closeout. 4 Roles: Civil Engineering Technician - $67,268.42 - $82,000.00 Civil Engineer I - $77,067.98 - $91,000 Civil Engineer II - $ 84,196.79 - $102,500 Civil Engineering III - $91,984.95 - $120,000.00 Core Responsibilities (All Levels) Successful candidates will support public and private development projects by performing work such as: Reviewing development and redevelopment plans, plats, and engineering documents for compliance with applicable design specifications, City policies, and regulatory requirements related to stormwater and roadway/engineering design. Identifying potential conflicts with existing infrastructure and conducting physical site assessments. Supporting and/or assisting with coordination, completion, and documentation of: Construction Activity inspections Engineering Permit inspections Engineering inspections associated with City Building Permits Reviewing final plats, record drawings, and video documentation, and participating in post-construction inspections required during project close-out and dedication. Analyzing reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, aerial photography, and technical data related to soil composition, terrain, hydrology, and other topographic/geologic characteristics. Preparing or assisting with modifications to reports, specifications, plans, schedules, environmental impact studies, and engineering designs. Supporting inspections of active construction sites to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, construction standards, and safety requirements. Interacting professionally with City employees, the public, design professionals, contractors, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues proactively. Maintaining accurate project records and ensuring documentation is properly filed. Performing other duties as assigned. Role-Specific Responsibilities Civil Engineering Technician Works under the direction and supervision of a registered Professional Engineer. Supports engineering staff with planning, design, and review of minor civil engineering projects (roads, bridges, small developments, irrigation, and drainage systems). Assists engineers and inspectors with field documentation, plan reviews, and project closeout tasks. Civil Engineer I Performs technical engineering and administrative duties supporting division operations. Reviews development and redevelopment projects with support from more senior staff. Assists more senior Civil Engineers as needed. Civil Engineer II Performs technical engineering and administrative duties supporting division operations. Independently reviews and manages more complex development and redevelopment projects. May direct the preparation of engineering reports, specifications, designs, and supporting project documentation. Provides higher-level support to inspection staff and may direct construction/maintenance activities when necessary.
