Description As a Civil Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing in planning, regulatory compliance, and technical support for both active operations and closure planning. You will prepare work maps and client/regulatory submittals, support design of hydraulic and reclamation structures, and develop cost models to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices. Key Responsibilities & Duties Mine Design & Planning · Develop short-, medium-, and long-term mine production schedules. · Prepare and maintain work maps for internal teams, clients, and regulatory submittals. · Proficiently use AutoCAD Map and/or Civil 3D for large mine mapping projects, including translating coordinate systems and incorporating external data (e.g., orthophotos, GIS layers). · Ensure mapping complies with regulatory and permitting requirements. Safety, Health, & Environmental Compliance · Ensure compliance with mine safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies. · Support permitting requirements with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ). · Conduct hazard assessments and assist in the design of sediment ponds, flood control structures, and stream channel restoration to meet post-mine environmental standards. · Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across all projects. Technical Studies & Analysis · Perform feasibility studies, cost estimates, and production analyses. · Support mine bonding and closure cost estimates, preparing spreadsheet cost models as required. · Develop and program spreadsheet tools, including advanced functions and macros, to streamline analysis and reporting. · Prepare technical reports for management, clients, and regulators. Project & Budget Management · Manage capital and operational projects, including reclamation and permitting initiatives. · Track budgets, schedules, and contractor deliverables to ensure projects remain on scope and within budget. · Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, and external consultants. Closure & Reclamation Planning · Develop and monitor mine closure and reclamation strategies in alignment with WDEQ requirements. · Design post-mine stream channels and associated water control structures using hydraulic modeling tools. · Maintain records and documentation required for bonding, closure, and regulatory approvals. · Ensure reclaimed sites meet sustainability and long-term land use objectives. Requirements for the role: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe. Profciency in AutoCAD Map and/or Civil 3D for large mine mapping projects. Knowledge of hydraulic modeling for post-mine stream channels, sediment control, and flood structures. Familiarity with mine bonding, closure planning, and regulatory permitting requirements (WDEQ preferred). Strong skills in spreadsheet programming, including macros and cost-model development. Experience with mine planning, scheduling, and design software. Strong communication skills for client coordination and regulatory submittals.
