Description

AZTEC is seeking Drainage Project Engineers in our Irvine, CA, and Phoenix, AZ offices to be a task leader for drainage-related tasks on projects for state and local municipalities, mentor less experienced staff and work directly with clients.
Job Description:
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design of street and highway drainage facilities including but not limited to storm drain systems, culverts, retention/detention basins, ditches, and channels. Experience in preparing and supervising final design tasks including plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Responsibilities will also include marketing local agencies, design criteria compliance, quality control for transportation, and public works drainage.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Responsible for completion of drainage-engineering project elements such as reports, designs, specifications, and plans
  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced Engineers/EIT’s
  • Works closely with other disciplines and multi-discipline projects
  • Conducts design and constructability reviews of plans
  • Provides support for final design review and quality assurance/control
  • Coordinates design development and assists in providing technical direction
  • Provides technical expertise in project aspects
  • Works in collaboration with other offices within the company
  • Work independently and supervise others to prepare final design plans and specifications, perform advanced hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, write and assemble drainage reports
  • Experience working in a team environment is very important
  • Should have the ability to take and to give design direction depending upon role on a given project

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS):

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum 2-15 years relevant experience
  • Professional engineering license (PE) in Arizona or California; or ability to receive reciprocity within 6 months
  • Integrity and Highly Motivated
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MicroStation, and AutoCAD
  • River mechanics, erosion and scour calculations and sediment transport training/experience a plus
  • Experience using Project Wise or other file management/file-sharing software is a plus
  • Knowledge of standard hydraulic and hydrology software is a plus (i.e. InRoads Storm and Sanitary, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), FLO-2D, HY-8, QGIS, StormCAD, SWMM)
