Description Civil Project Engineer Westwood Professional Services, Inc. The Civil Project Engineer plans, designs, and directs engineering projects such as roads, water supply, sanitary sewer, and subdivision/site plans. Requirements Consults with client to determine project requirements Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project Visits project site to ascertain existing conditions Calculates cost and determines feasibility of projects based on analysis of collected data Prepares, conducts or directs preparation of reports, design, specifications, plans and construction administration Conducts periodic on-site observations of work during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans and specifications Prepares calculations, specifications, construction documents, and inspection reports for projects as assigned using discipline-specific software Supports and communicates with team members throughout all stages of design, production, approval and construction processes Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, analyze and interpret Ability to write effective reports and correspondence Construction document and 3D production ability Possesses a firm understanding of engineering design for all aspects of site development along with current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes and regulations Embraces teamwork approach and possesses strong communication skills Must possess strong technical skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD and other discipline specific software Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required Valid discipline-specific license in Virginia is required Valid Virginia driver’s license is required Competencies Required: Communication Dependability Ethics Interpersonal Skills Organization Skills Problem Solving Project Management Quality Strategic Thought Technical Skills Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
