Job Description
An 80-year group, COBRA promotes its own efficient business model, the result of the combination of decentralization, geographical diversification and technical specialization of more than 20,000 professionals in more than 43 countries. In this way, it offers a wide range of services throughout the value chain of projects, adapted to each sector and to the scope of the contract required by our clients, both public and private.
Cobra is divided into four main sectors of activity, Networks, Specialised installations, integrated projects and concession assets.
ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed preferred network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission line network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV) is the design and construction contractor for ACEREZ.
The Central-West Orana Transmission Project will provide new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.
Location
The role will require someone to travel to the camp and site near Mudgee and work on a 14 day on 7 day off roster.
About the Role

Our Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Project Engineers to share their expertise within our growing Substation team. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, procurement, construction, and quality assurance, to ensure that all civil aspects of the project are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

  • Develop and review civil engineering designs and calculations for substation foundations, gantry’s, and associated structures
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and client specifications
  • Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery
  • Monitor subcontractors performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship is in accordance with the specifications
  • Ensures that program is communicated to subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff to maintain commitment
  • Assist in managing cost control for certain aspects of the project in order to ensure the project meets its performance targets in relation to budget/forecast
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor site personnel to foster positive team dynamics, staff moral and work outcomes
  • Develop and monitor implementation of construction methods including audits
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, reports, and as-built records
  • Assist in the preparation of project schedules, budgets, and resource plans specific to civil works
  • Address client queries and concerns related to civil works in a timely and professional manner

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Foundations, ideally in Substations
  • Problem solving / analytical skills
  • Geotechnical Interpretation
  • Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied
  • Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated experience collaborating across multiple stakeholder groups
