Responsibilities
  1. As a member of the Project Site Team, your duties include being in charge of all on-site construction activities on a daily basis.
  2. Organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of the Foreman, Sub Foreman, and Varcon’s employees on all self-performed work.
  3. Keep records on work performed and materials; be responsible for the control of costs in materials and wages.
  4. Track and control on-site labour.
  5. Track and record all extra work orders.
  6. Control and enforce accuracy of foremen’s reports. Accurately match foremen’s time cards with cost codes established for self-performed work.
  7. Estimate materials needed for specific jobs; estimate manpower needed for specific jobs.
  8. Track and keep records of all tools delivered to the site.
  9. Order all materials and tools through Varcon’s Procurement Department.
  10. Ensure that all proper authorities and consultants are performing periodic inspections as required. Arrange for all necessary inspections throughout the duration of the project.
  11. Take the lead on productivity issues and monitor work performance and efficiency of employees and subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedule are followed and project is executed effectively and within budget.
  12. Understand project plans and specifications thoroughly.
  13. Prepare and maintain as-built drawings up to date at all times.
  14. Keep records of underground locates organized and up to date throughout the duration of the project.
  15. Contribute to the development of a construction plan to manage subcontractor activities.
  16. Hold weekly coordination meetings with sub-trades and produce minutes of these meetings.
  17. Prepare for weekly/bi-weekly progress meetings held with owners/consultants.
  18. Review minutes of progress meetings and respond accordingly.
  19. Exercise control over rate of construction progress in order to complete a construction project within time and cost limits; schedule all jobs and operations.
  20. Prepare two-week-look-ahead schedules every Thursday for review by General Superintendents on Friday and submission to the Owner/Consultant by the following Monday.
  21. Assure construction compliance with design requirements.
  22. Supervise and coordinate field engineering and construction activities.
  23. Assure compliance with project construction schedule budgets and assume responsibility for the commissioning of project systems.
  24. Schedule all trades for close out and commissioning. Prepare close-out and commissioning schedule and keep track of all reports and documentation.
  25. Ensure project materials and workmanship meet the project Quality Standards.
  26. Constantly check for deficiencies during construction and take prompt action to rectify them on an on-going basis.
  27. Ensure the implementation of Varcon’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite and adhere to the safety and record keeping requirements.
  28. Prepare site orientation sheets pertaining to the project and all emergency and traffic related plans.
  29. Control and maintain site organization and cleanliness.
  30. Protect the company image at all times.
  31. Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and Varcon’s fellow employees.
  32. Resolve on-site conflicts and maintain job site unity.
  33. Document and report all injuries, fill out Notice of Injury/Accident Report.
  34. Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts.
  35. Perform additional assignments as directed by superiors or as required for successful project completion.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
