JOB DESCRIPTION

NANA Worley is hiring for multiple positions at varying classifications from Civil/Structural Engineer to Civil/Structural Specialist Engineersdependent on experience and competencies. For candidates with less than two years of experience, we encourage you to apply to our Engineer in Training (EIT) position.

The Civil/Structural Engineer position is responsible for researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment and/or systems in a multi-discipline engineering and design team.Individuals are expected to apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and techniques to project assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following describes the education and experience typically required to develop the competencies for each classification level; competencies may be demonstrated with other combinations of education, training, experience, and achievements:

Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience, with oil and gas industry experienced preferred; and
  • Engineer in Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam preferred.

Senior Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; and
  • 4-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry; and
  • PE/SE license strongly desired

Staff Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, 8-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and PE/SE license; or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience.

Senior Staff Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, 15+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and PE/SE license; or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 20+ years of experience.

Principal Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, 20+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and PE license; or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 25+ years of experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with or education in engineering for Cold regions or Arctic conditions.
  • Alaska North Slope Oil and Gas industry experience.
  • Offshore Structures, Telecom Infrastructures, and/or Fire Protection project experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

A working knowledge of Microsoft Word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD design software. Experience with Advanced Steel is preferred.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Works with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
  • Reviews and approves project drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations, and laws.
  • Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
  • Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products, or systems.
  • Provides technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, handling of a client’s changing needs, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for project.
  • Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • More senior individuals will have engineering experience including arctic civil/structural design and application of IBC, AWS, ASCE, AISC and national fire codes.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, although the individual may be asked to lead a functional work group or direct the work functions of others including drafters, designers.
