JOB DESCRIPTION

AP Dynamics is looking for a talented and self-motivated Structural Engineer to join our team in Calgary, AB. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Broad exposure to oil and gas facility design including both natural gas and heavy oil projects, including field facilities/infrastructure projects
  • Perform structural and civil design calculations for facilities, platforms, foundations, and supporting infrastructure
  • Prepare detailed construction work packages (CWPs) for civil and structural activities
  • Structural design experience of steel and concrete structures for Oil and gas facilities.
  • Experience in pile design for pipe racks and other oil and gas structures
  • Good knowledge of light metallic structures
  • Experience in Site preparation, meter stations, and hot tops
  • Good knowledge of welded and bolted connections for steel structures
  • Complete knowledge of industry standards for structural design
  • Prepare and oversee design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete and steel building structures.
  • Perform field inspections.
  • Apply professional seal to construction documents and engineering reports.
  • Monitor and take professional responsibility for design completed by structural team members.
  • Assist Project Managers in developing project budgets, work plans, and schedules.
  • Assist in the coordination of project design activities and the preparation of engineering work schedules as part of an overall integrated team.
  • Coordinate design work with project team members, other disciplines, and other offices as required by project size.
  • Coach and supervise junior staff members.
  • Participate in overall business development activities.
  • Develop and maintain a network of clients.
  • Adhere to AP Dynamics EH&S policies.
  • Perform other related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor in civil engineering.
  • Civil Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), P.Eng. registration in Alberta.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in structural engineering.
  • Experience with STAAD PRO or equivalent structural software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build excellent personnel relationships with customers, partners
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a multidiscipline group.
  • Detailed knowledge of Project Management fundamentals.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

    Pay: $90,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
