As a Civil/Structural Engineering Student for the Oil Sands Major Projects group, your focus will be to support the Engineering team with designing and constructing projects for either the Horizon or Albian Oil Sands sites. Take advantage of the opportunity to be a part of one of the world’s largest Oil Sands operations, work closely with seasoned engineers, and become familiar with the world of design and construction.

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta – Head Office*
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday - Friday) in Calgary or 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours/day (Monday - Thursday) in Oil Sands
  • Term length: 8 months
  • Term start: May 2025
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes.

  • Please note, depending on business needs, the work location may change. This would require the successful candidate to work at one of our Oil Sands sites north of Fort McMurray, AB.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work with professional Structural/Civil Engineers and apply engineering principles in the design and construction of oil sands facilities
  • Complete design calculations and drawings
  • Create and analyze structural finite element models
  • Create bill of materials to support cost estimates
  • Write technical reports
  • Inspect construction work on site
Responsibilities
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering or within one year of graduation (specialization in Structural Engineering is considered an asset)
  • Previous engineering experience, Microsoft applications, CAD, structural analysis tools (e.g. S-Frame), and proficiency in technical communication are all assets, but not required
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
