Program Summary With over 20+ training and employment programs and 50 staff, IRCO’s Workforce Development Sector provides career coaching, career services, training, and job placement assistance to youth and adults so that they gain living wages and become empowered through their careers. Position Summary The Clackamas Works Career Coach provides workforce development services to immigrants, refugees, English Language Learners, and other community members living in Clackamas County. A significant percent of the caseload will be Spanish speaking. As an onsite partner of WorkSource Clackamas, the Career Coach will have a presence at the WorkSource and in Clackamas County 2-3 days per week to assist program participants in a variety of activities including the creation of an employment/career plan, assistance with accessing WorkSource services, placement into short term vocational training, job search assistance and job placement. Additionally, the Career Coach will provide wrap support services and/or tuition assistance, and job retention services so that participants excel and advance within their jobs. Essential Functions Provide workforce development case management to participants including client intake, assessment, Employment Plan development, job search and placement, work readiness, and skill building activities to ensure successful path to self-sufficiency. Conduct outreach in the community to recruit community members seeking workforce services. Assist program participants in creating resumes, cover letters, and completing employment applications. Develop materials to assist clients in job search, interviews, and retaining employment. Provide ESL referrals as needed to improve English speaking skills and/or assist participants in entering vocational trainings leading to employment in high-demand industries. Consult with employers and conduct employer outreach to develop strategies for employee retention. Share and coordinate employment opportunities with IRCO’s larger Workforce Development team. Strengthen and build new relationships with Clackamas Area employers who are interested in supporting and employing our participants. Utilize community resources to refer and engage participants in skill building activities. Regularly communicate with DHS case managers and other agencies on participants’ activities, progress and challenges. Complete timely data entry and case notes in the I-Trac and WOMIS system and maintain electronic case files. Use cloud-based document management systems and office 365 daily. Use Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other meeting platforms to conduct virtual meetings with program participants, IRCO staff, and community partners. Commute through Porland Metro/Clackamas County to meet clients and partners. Secondary Functions Attend training and meetings conducted as part of the Clackamas Workforce. Partnership includes sector-industry strategy planning and other partner meetings. Participate in departmental staff meetings, training, and committees that support the delivery of services to Clackamas County communities. Interact with staff in other IRCO programs and community partners and referring clients to these parties. Provide onsite job counseling to participants as well as occasional client transportation to and from job interviews, training enrollments, or other job/training related needs. Requirements Education & Experience MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: Some college course work 1-2 years prior program case management, career advising/coaching, or related field Knowledge of Workforce Development and local business landscape Strong computer skills, excel and related software applications. Must be detail oriented with experience in basic expense tracking Physical, Mental, & Environmental Requirements Hybrid setting job (ability to work in person 2-3 days per week). Positions require some analysis of problems or decision-making ability. Well protected environment with minimal hazards or obstacles. Stable work schedule with no fluctuations.
