Description
Manage agency communications to resolve enquiries and issues related to shipping documents (e.g., B/L, agreements, DO). Coordinate immediate remedial actions for incidents/accidents with ports and relevant stakeholders. Assess inspection/survey needs, liaise with cargo interests and liable parties, and capture information for claims/insurance records. Issue guidelines/procedures to agents and monitor compliance. Validate claimant standing/title and right of claim. Collect and analyze evidence (from agents, claimants, and surveyors) to determine cause, extent, and recommendations. Prepare case recommendations, report to HQ when outside local authority, and communicate final decisions to claimants. Negotiate/arrange settlements as needed and escalate legal strategy by appointing local counsel for court actions. Pursue third-party recovery: identify liable parties, file recovery claims, follow up persistently, and issue periodic recovery status reports. Handle unclaimed cargo and operational controls (costs/contracts/OOG/insurance): minimize exposure per local rules, manage release/disposal, update systems, approve SAP costs, review contracts, and arrange special insurance where required. Requirements At least 5 years of experience in claims & insurance with good knowledge in liner shipping industry. Candidates having experience in insurance industry may also be considered. University degree or above in Logistics industry / Shipping / Insurance or Management Possess sound analytical thinking and ability to handle case independently Good command of spoken and written English and Mandarin Good computer knowledge including MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Chinese word processing Willing to work under pressure Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills A good team player with internal staff in different departments and countries
