Your New Role We have a 12-month max-term contract opportunity for a Claims Specialist to join the Claims Performance and Oversight Team and support the operational management of claims by our insurance provider and permanent incapacity decisioning processes. Key responsibilities will include; Lead the review and decisioning of permanent incapacity and terminal illness (as required) release recommendations. Review and decision declined insurance claims from our insurers. Represent the Claims Performance and Oversight Team at various committee meetings. Support the team in responding to internal and external insurance claim queries and complaints. Develop and maintain related documentation, processes, protocols, and procedures for consistent oversight and reporting. Raise exceptions, queries, and requests for information. Report and resolve insurance claims related breaches and incidents. Support the evolution of the Claims Performance and Oversight Team operating model by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Identify, review and assist with updating insurance claims related business rule changes and associated collateral. What You’ll Need Solid experience within insurance claims, ideally within superannuation industry. At least three years’ experience in superannuation insurance preferably group claims. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret insurance policies and legislation. An ability to understand complex documents including Trust Deed, contracts and legislation. Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to proofread, spelling & English grammar skills essential. Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to work diligently, efficiently, and with accuracy paying close attention to detail. An excellent working knowledge of/experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Outlook. Excellent interpersonal skills which foster cooperation and teamwork in a close team environment. An ability to work autonomously and pro-actively without supervision and to set own work plan to meet deadlines. Responsibilities
The Claims Specialist will lead the review and decisioning of permanent incapacity and terminal illness release recommendations, and review declined insurance claims. They will also support the team in responding to insurance claim queries and complaints, and develop related documentation and processes.
