JOB DESCRIPTION

Ace Courier Kelowna seeking a motivated individual to join our team - new drivers welcome.

Must be honest, hardworking, trustworthy, independent and above all, reliable. You will be driving tractors and 5 ton trucks depending on the work load. There is a plethora of different day to day operations and your day will most likely never be the same. Individual must be okay with switching between day cabs and/ or smaller trucks within the day - but sleeper cabs will remain dedicated to 1 individual. You could potentially be on the road 5 days consecutively out of town anywhere from the Lower Mainland to the East Kootenays to the Caribou region.

  • Dry Van, Flatdeck, Curtainside and 5 Ton work - a mix of everything.
  • In town ( Kelowna) and regional work either in a tractor trailer or 5 ton truck.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years winter driving
  • Dry Van and Flat deck strapping
  • Knowledge of putting chains on
  • Must be willing to switch between trucks depending on the circumstances
  • Good understanding of Kelowna / surrounding Okanagan areas
  • Experience operating forklifts is a plus for loading and unloading freight efficiently.
  • Experience dealing with difficult people and or difficult and stressful situations
  • Ability to think outside the box

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a commercial truck to transport freight to designated locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Load and unload freight, utilizing forklifts as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding routes, schedules, and any issues that arise during transport.
  • Ensure that all cargo is secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
  • Cooperate with dispatch and customers to ensure day to day operations run smoothly
  • Local P&D, and/or Regional P&D
