Description:
Liberty Tire is looking to fill the position of Class 1 Driver, who, under the direction of the Transportation Manager, will primarily be responsible to ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. The Driver will be responsible for the safe efficient collection of tires in the Vancouver region.
All applicants must successfully pass satisfactory background screening, which depending on the position applied, may include a Criminal Record Check, Driver’s Abstract, and/or Education or Credential Verification.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Class 1 Driver’s License - the license must not include any restrictions that would affect the ability to legally and safely carry out job responsibilities
- Must have a clean Driver’s Abstract
- Commercial driving experience an asset, however we are willing to consider any suitable candidates
- Safety focused
- Air endorsement is mandatory
- Must be able to operate standard transmission
- Must be able to provide a letter of previous driving experience
- Knowledge of hook and lift bin equipment is an asset
- Knowledge of the area is mandatory
- Mechanically inclined is an asset
- Must be able to work weekends and some Stat holidays
- Ability to work and drive in all weather conditions
- Physically fit for duty
- Good communication and customer service skills
Responsibilities:
- Maneuver truck in narrow, confined areas.
- Read maps, plan collection route. Set schedule for the day.
- Stack tires following proper lacing procedure to maximize use of space on truck.
- Flat deck & roll-offs.
- Load and unload quickly and efficiently.
- Communicate courteously with store operators and employees wherever necessary in the course of picking up tires.
- Perform all functions observing all relevant safety practices.
- Other duties as required.
