Description

CHU CHO INDUSTRIES LP (CCI) IS CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR AN EXPERIENCED AND QUALIFIED CLASS 1 LOGGING TRUCK DRIVER TO WORK IN AND AROUND THE MACKENZIE AND TSAY KEH DENE AREA.

We are seeking a skilled and responsible Class 1 Driver to haul logs in remote remote areas. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years’ experience in log hauling and a strong commitment to safety.
Please note that the hourly rate attached to this role does not fully reflect the log hauling (commission) based pay. While hauling logs, our employees receive a percentage of each load’s revenue, less applicable deductions, that they bring in (approximately $40-55 per hour dependent on mill rates, etc.) While performing duties outside of log hauling, employees receive an hourly rate ($34-36 per hour).

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

  • Resume, including relevant experience and personal / professional references.
  • Valid Class 1 Drivers License.
  • Clean Drivers Abstract.
  • Copy of Valid Transportation Endorsement Ticket is an asset.
  • 5 years experience in log hauling.
  • Low-bedding experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to operate heavy trucks hauling long/short logs on and off highway. Should be comfortable working with 7 and 8 axle configurations.
  • Focus on safe transportation by ensuring WorkSafeBC and CVSE load securement requirements.
  • Drive in challenging off road environments like forestry roads and mountain terrain.
  • Conduct pre and post and trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, road worthiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Complete all records regarding working hours, vehicle status and maintenance records
  • Ensure trucks are left clean and safe at the end of each shift.

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and safely operate equipment at heights.
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to consistently work long hours
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written) with the ability to interact with coworkers and management.
  • Detail oriented with a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work procedures.
  • Good physical strength, stamina.
