  • Must reside in Kamloops, BC – applications from outside this area will not be considered (no exceptions for relocation; must currently reside in Kamloops and be ready to start immediately)
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Must have proven lowbed hauling experience – including manual and hydraulic neck operation
  • Must be able to operate up to a 10-axle configuration
  • Must be able to complete your own permits for loads
  • Must know legal weights and dimensions for BC and Alberta corridors
  • Clean, non-restricted driver’s abstract required

REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Cobra Heavy Iron Ltd. is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Class 1 Lowbed Driver to join our Kamloops-based team. We’re working to increase representation in the skilled trades and encourage applications from women This position involves the transportation of heavy equipment to and from job sites, including manual and hydraulic neck lowbed operations with trailer setups of up to 10 axles.
The successful candidate will be confident in handling their own permits and have a strong understanding of BC and Alberta corridor weights and dimensions. You will be responsible for hauling a variety of heavy equipment safely and efficiently, maintaining your equipment, and ensuring all moves comply with provincial and interprovincial regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safe and efficient operation of lowbed truck and trailer units
  • Loading, securing, and transporting heavy equipment in compliance with all regulations
  • Operating and detaching manual and hydraulic neck lowbeds
  • Hauling with multi-axle configurations (up to 10 axles)
  • Completing permits independently for moves
  • Applying knowledge of BC/Alberta corridor legal weights and dimensions
  • Performing daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Conducting basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and site-specific procedures
  • Communicating effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and site personnel
