Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As one of our HGV Class 1 Drivers, you will primarily be responsible for the bulk movement of stock between Warehouses and Depots.
Whilst you will mainly be delivering goods from the Warehouse to Depot, occasionally we may need you to drive other vehicles and complete deliveries to Trade outlets or on very rare occasions customers’ homes. As with our Customer Service Delivery Specialists you will need to provide a high standard of customer service to internal or external customers at all times.
Initially, this is a PM shift-based role as the majority of Warehouse to Depot’s vehicle movements take place during these hours. However, there will be a need for complete flexibility to swap between AM shift and PM shift to ensure that everything is covered within the operation and most importantly all the HGV Class 1 Drivers are legally compliant with their hours. There may be a need for additional hours to meet with the business needs.

TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Completing a Daily Vehicle Check to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and all checks are in line with the ‘Daily Vehicle Check’ procedure. All vehicle defects must be reported immediately in line with the ‘Defect’ procedure.
  • Self maintenance of the vehicles, such as bulbs, fuses and lubricants which form part of your Daily Vehicle Check.
  • To ensure all products are loaded safely onto the vehicle.
  • All legislation and paperwork concerning the vehicle’s Tachograph (Digi or Manual) is complied with.
  • All vehicles are to be kept in a clean and presentable condition, both internally and externally any problem, accidental damage etc, should be reported immediately to the Transport team.
  • Assist with loading or unloading of Company vehicles as and when required, some handballing will be required.
  • Communicate any complaints or comments made by the customer and report any underlying reason where known.
  • To drive in a responsible manner complying with all current EU Road Transport regulation at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties as allocated by the Transport Management Team.
