Overview In Business since 1919 and still growing, Arrow is a leader in bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S. As an Arrow Transportation Systems Class 1 In-Yard Driver, you will be hauling wood fibre (wood chips, hog fuel, and sawdust) short distances from the Weyerhaeuser Sawmill to the Global Cellulous Fibre Pulpmill in 53' single trailers and end dumps in Grande Prairie. For more information please visit www.arrow.ca Responsibilities Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations. Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, road-worthiness and regulatory compliance. Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions. Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics. Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned. May operate loading equipment as per role requirements. Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor. Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites. Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate. Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers Assist in loading and unloading of trucks Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements.
