CLASS 3 DRIVER- EVENINGS 4 10HR SHIFTS ON, 4-OFF

Are you looking for a driving position where you can be home every night? Strathcona Septic & Water Services is seeking a professional and reliable Class 3 Driver to join our team. We primarily provide residential and industrial septic and water services in the Sherwood Park & Edmonton Area. Our ideal candidate is a strong team player who has good communication skills and is a safe and professional driver. The nature of the work we do is dynamic and often fast-paced, requiring adaptability and a team-oriented approach to ensure our customers are taken care of in responding to rural water and septic emergencies.
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will perform the following:

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • H2S, First Aid and Confined Space certificates are considered an asset
  • Clean drivers abstract with a class 5 drivers endorsement is required
  • Class 3 License

Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year of Class 3 driving experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of vacuum truck /or water hauling experience
  • Mature individual with strong communication skills
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Pass industrial site Fit test requirements
  • No criminal record (required for commercial site clearance)
  • Must have basic computer skills for safety reporting and paperwork via computer / cell phone ( familiarity with Sitedocs an asset)

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is an evening/overnight shift- 7pm to 5am, rotating 4 days on and 4 days off
  • Must be available to be on-call for evenings and weekends every 10 - 12 weeks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required.
  • Experience with a COR safety program is desirable.
  • Clean drivers abstract.
  • Background check may be requested based on customer site requirements.
  • Combination Unit operation experience considered an asset.
  • Hydro-Vac operation experience considered an asset.
  • Dump Truck operation experience considered an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Take direction from the supervisor to perform labor intensive duties and operate equipment required for service & maintenance of water and septic tanks.
  • Safely operate vacuum trucks and potable water trucks for septic and water services at various industrial sites and residential rural areas - treating the client’s property as if it was your own. Requires patience and attention to detail for customer requests for septic cleaning and/or water hauling, ex. carefully backing in tight driveways, meeting time requirements, specific directions, and volume requirements, etc.
  • Work professionally and cooperatively in a team of drivers/dispatchers with excellent communication and team work to ensure that water and septic emergencies are responded to efficiently.
  • Perform housekeeping activities such as cleaning equipment and tools, and general cleaning of the worksite
  • Perform repetitive tasks in a safe and responsible manner. Ex) running and maneuvering hose to access tanks, removing and re-fastening concrete tank lids, etc.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and safety checks when required.
  • Observe and recommend any operational efficiencies, processes, and procedure improvements, if any.
  • Competently & consistently perform required paperwork.
  • Consistently follow safety procedures to target zero incidents, lost time, injuries, property damages, and/or environmental releases
  • Regular communication with the Operations Manager/ General Manager to maintain a high level of understanding about the work, resources, and overall client satisfaction.
  • Promptly taking a proactive approach to assess and mitigate hazardous conditions ensures that all Safety and Operational activities are successful.
  • Assist with other tasks as required.
