Description Classification Nonexempt Salary Grade/Level/Family/Range Staff Reports to Fleet Manager JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective The truck driver position performs a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans in support of the Fleet Department. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Perform a variety of duties in the operation of the Fleet Department, such as hauling, snowplowing, loading, dumping, etc. Delivering construction equipment to and from job sites and branch locations. Work with Fleet Manager to ensure proper permitting is secured. Ensure all equipment is properly harnessed, secure and free of debris that may blow off in transit. May plan route to insure most economical use of time and equipment. Obtain materials from yard or supplier and haul to yard or job site. Plow snow and salt roads according to departmental policy. Maintain clean vehicles and operated equipment. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate Fleet Safety Program. Completes pre and post-trip inspections thoroughly, and reports immediate concerns to Fleet Manager and/or Mechanic shop. Control traffic at work sites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned. Competencies Discretion. Decision Making. Time Management. Thoroughness. Customer/Client Focus. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Requirements High school diploma or GED. 1 year of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job. Valid CDL License.
