Position Summary Capital Waste Services is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to operate a tractor-trailer (semi-truck) for the transportation of waste and recyclable materials. This role is responsible for safely hauling, transporting, and delivering materials between transfer stations, landfills, and other designated locations while maintaining strict compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. This position requires a strong safety mindset, experience with tractor-trailer operation, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment. Key Responsibilities Tractor-Trailer Operation Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer (semi) in compliance with all laws and company policies Transport waste and recyclable materials to and from landfills, transfer stations, and designated facilities Secure loads properly and ensure safe transport at all times Navigate local and regional routes safely and efficiently Route Execution & Logistics Complete assigned hauls on schedule and communicate delays as needed Coordinate with dispatch and operations for routing and load instructions Maintain accurate trip logs, scale tickets, and required documentation Safety & Compliance Comply with all DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any mechanical issues Follow all company safety procedures, site rules, and traffic laws Immediately report accidents, incidents, or safety concerns Equipment & Yard Responsibilities Maintain tractor and trailer in clean, safe working condition Inspect trailer hookups, brakes, lights, and tires before transport Assist with yard operations, trailer spotting, or equipment staging as needed Customer Service & Professionalism Represent Capital Waste Services professionally at all job sites Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and facility personnel Qualifications Required Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) Valid DOT Medical Card Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and ability to meet insurance requirements Ability to operate a tractor-trailer safely and efficiently Ability to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol screening and background check Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Preferred 1–3+ years of tractor-trailer or roll-off experience Experience in waste, recycling, or heavy transportation Familiarity with landfills, transfer stations, or hauling operations Work Environment Combination of driving and outdoor work Local or regional hauling routes Physically active role with equipment inspections and occasional manual tasks Fast-paced, safety-focused environment Why Join Capital Waste Services Stable, growing company in the environmental services industry Competitive pay and benefits Modern fleet and well-maintained equipment Opportunity for advancement and long-term career growth Safety-first culture with strong operational support Equal Opportunity Statement Capital Waste Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
