JOB TITLE: Class A Driver                                                    DEPARTMENT:  Sales  JOB SUMMARY: Follows pre-established weekly schedule in delivering batteries/miscellaneous to warehouses and/or customers on time and in a safe manner.  SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.     Provides on-time delivery to warehouses and customers by coordinating start times and travel time.  All trailers will be loaded according to stops, as best as possible.  Drivers may be expected to assist in unloading deliveries at stops. 2.     Responsible for picking up and returning truck and trailer to the branch location daily.  On  overnight runs, vehicles are to be parked and locked in a well-lighted area. 3.     Must run deliveries between local grown facilities. 4.     Responsible for reporting violations, fines, and accidents to the Branch office immediately.   5.     Provides routine preventative maintenance on truck by following the check sheet on a daily basis.  Servicing/repairs/replacement of parts to be authorized by the Fremont office only.  Situations involving a breakdown are to be reported to the Branch office immediately to authorize servicing.  Truck cab will be kept clean and neat. 6.     Keeps accurate daily log including start/stop time, mileage, and fuel records.   Authorized   credit cards only will be used for purchase of diesel gas, motels and meals.  Expense reports    with  receipts are to be completed and turned in to the Fremont office on a weekly basis. 7.     Must be sure both outgoing and return loads are secure and loaded for proper weight distribution. 8.     Is responsible for: ·         Understanding and following policies, procedures and instructions ·         Identifying and reporting product, process and quality system non-conformities to lead personnel ·         Controlling nonconforming products ·         Supporting implementation of corrective/preventive and improvement actions 9.   Will assist in moving trucks at the Branch from one dock to another. 10. Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.  ACCOUNTABILITY: The Class A Driver is accountable to the Fremont Warehouse & Distribution Manager or Branch Operations Manager. COMPETENCIES: ·         1+ years semi-truck driving experience or truck driving academy ·         Valid commercial driver’s license with a hazardous material endorsement ·         Valid medical exam card with drug screen dated within the last 24 months ·         Knowledgeable about Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations ·         Driving record with 2 or less violations in a 36 month period TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  ·         Safety training ·         HAZMAT ·         Must have CDL – A license                  DESIRABLE TRAILS:  May operate the truck for long periods of time, depending on schedule.  Will be required to accept overnight and/or long runs.  May work under pressure because of delays, traffic conditions and weather conditions. May be required to assist unloading truck at destination by running pallet jack.  Understand the importance of good customer relations.   This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee.
